The New Crusades: Islamophobia and The Global War on Muslims
WORKSHOPS
Islamophobia has spiralled into a global menace, and democratic and authoritarian regimes alike have deployed it as a strategy to persecute their Muslim populations. With this book, Khaled A. Beydoun details how the American War on Terror has facilitated and intensified the network of anti-Muslim campaigns unfolding across the world. “The New Crusades : Islamophobia and The Global War on Muslims” is the first book of its kind, offering a critical and intimate examination of global Islamophobia and its manifestations in Europe, Asia, the Middle East, and regions beyond and in between.
What to expect:
This workshop will use “The New Crusades : Islamophobia and The Global War on Muslims” as a key resource to explore Islamophobia’s global spread, providing real-world examples like France’s hijab ban, India’s state-sponsored hate, the crisis in Gaza, and China’s targeting of Muslims. The book will serve as a guide for participants, helping you understand how Islamophobia unites different forms of hatred and oppression.
Through engaging discussions, Khaled will use the insights from the book to identify patterns of discrimination and state violence. The workshop will also offer practical ways to challenge Islamophobia, empowering participants with knowledge and strategies to take action in their own communities.
